The Governor of the Sverdlovsk Region Evgeniy Kuyvashev pays much attention to the development of the forestry sector. The main priority is to assist in the creation of new modern high-tech industries that produce high-conversion products, said Igor Zelenkin, Deputy Minister of Industry and Science of the Sverdlovsk Region, at the VI All-Russian Branch Scientific and Practical Conference "Prospects for the Development of Machinery and Technologies in the Pulp and Paper and Woodworking Industry" in Yekaterinburg, the correspondent was told in the Department of Information Policy of the region.

"This will provide new well-paid, highly-qualified jobs, including remote forest villages, and will ensure the flow of taxes to budgets of all levels," Mr. Zelenkin said.

According to him, the regional Ministry of Industry and Science closely cooperates with the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia and the Industrial Development Fund to solve the tasks. In 2017, 240 million rubles were received from the federal budget for the development of timber industry enterprises in the region. In comparison with 2016, the figure has increased six times. In total, from 2015 to 2017 for these needs the federal investments volume has reached 304 million rubles.

The rector of the Ural State Forestry University Andrey Mekhrensev notes that about 70 scientific reports were presented during the conference. Thus, students and specialists discussed innovative technologies for recycling and utilization of industrial waste from timber processing, providing raw materials for pulp and paper enterprises, training issues, and many others. Within the framework of the conference proposals were formed that will be sent to the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia. These proposals will be taken into account when forming a strategy for the development of the Russian forestry complex for the period until 2030.
